Polar Bear In A Snowstorm

This goes waaay back to when one of my fiends was looking through my sketchbook and found a blank page where I'd rubbed something out. I called it a "polar bear in a snowstorm", and given that name to any blank page in my sketchbook. She drew a nose and eyes and claws on the page and said "That's a polar bear in a snowstorm." And I've wanted to draw it ever since. It's taken several years to finally get shoved down on paper.
Taught myself the basics of the pen tool for this one, and had a laugh doing the bg - it's only one layer, and I don't know if you can see, but there's snow blowing off the top of some of them. And there's rust on his armour.
Who can guess what I was inspired by?
